Amakoekoe Guest Lodge is located in Honeydew in the north-western suburbs of Johannesburg and the owners André and Sanet Koekemoer, named it "Amakoekoe" as an amusing play on their surname “Koekemoer" interpreted as "ama" meaning "the" and "koekoe" as an abbreviation of "Koekemoer".
It is surrounded by carefully maintained, vibrant gardens with abundant birdlife. The unrivalled hospitality makes every stay an unforgettable experience. Spacious ground and first floor units are available. These 17 luxurious air-conditioned units are serviced daily. Each unit has been individually decorated and unique works of art adorn the walls. Inspiring Art and Craft workshops are presented at Amakoekoe.
Koekoe Art was established in August 2007, by Sanet Koekemoer, co-owner of Amakoekoe Guest Lodge. Being a full time musician, playing for the various symphony orchestras in Johannesburg, Gauteng, she uses her free time to create paintings and ceramics, seen throughout the lodge. All the units were decorated by herself. |
